Following news last year that summer 2019 was the ‘worst on record’ for A&E waiting times in England since the four-hour target was introduced, the BBC today reports further deterioration of A&E waiting times during December.
The NHS England December data showed record delays in A&E with one in five patients waiting more than four hours. This comes as Totally’s figures show that in December an average of 98.7% of all patients were seen within four hours at their urgent treatment centres. Urgent treatment centres are typically co-located with an A&E department and manage access by patients to such services.
